Guatemala SWP ( SWISS WATER PROCESS ) SHB EP DECAF
Guatemala SWP SHB EP Decaffeinated SHB Swiss Water Process (SWP) presents all the flavor characteristics we are looking for.
You will smell a lot of chocolate and fruit in this decaffeinated coffee. Strictly Hard Bean (SHB) specifies the altitude at which the coffee was grown. It must be grown at 1200 meters above sea level or higher to be considered SHB. Higher altitude and lower temperatures mean that coffee beans ripen more slowly.
Young consumers are the driving force behind coffee cultivation these days and expect high quality decaffeinated coffee that is often traceable and certified. The demand for higher quality decaffeinated coffee has been growing lately.
Swiss Water Process: The water path to decaffeination
The Swiss Water Process method uses the principle of osmosis and diffusion to rid the beans of caffeine while preserving their aromatic compounds.

How does it work?
In this process, the green beans are first steamed to open up their structure. Then the grains are thrown into hot water, which extracts the caffeine - and at the same time all the substances that make up the flavors and aromas. From this solution full of caffeine and other substances, you subsequently remove the caffeine with the help of activated carbon and the so-called Caffeine-free Green Coffee Extract.
When you wash the new green beans with this extract, only the caffeine will be "released" from them, since the other substances are already contained in the solution. If you wash the green beans with the solution several times, you get decaffeinated coffee.
After each wash, you also get pure caffeine, which can be sold either to a pharmacy or to companies that make energy drinks.
